Mediation services can be filtered by mediator name, area of practice, language spoken, county or city.
Once you have located a mediator who meets your unique needs, contact them directly using the phone, email address or website information from their profile page.
CFMA takes the guesswork out of searching for a mediator. Our directory lists only mediators who are members in good standing and have attained the training and experience to be recognized as a Certified Mediator by CFMA.
All CFMA certified mediators must meet the highest standards required in Montana, including:
- Successful completion of a 40-hour comprehensive mediation training program
- Active mediation experience (lead and/or solo mediator)
- Annual engagement in continuing education, training, and mediation experience
- Dedication to abide by the CFMA code of professional
standards and practice
Choosing a mediator
An experienced mediator should be willing to listen to your needs and explain the mediation process so that you can make an informed decision.
To ensure that the selected mediator can address needs unique to your situation, it can be helpful to ask a few questions like the ones below:
- What is your background?
- What is your approach to facilitative mediation?
- What is your training? When did you complete it?
- How many cases have you mediated?
- What are your areas of practice?
- Do you have experience mediating a case like mine?
- What are your rates and how do you charge for mediation services? Are there any additional fees?
- How Quickly Can You Schedule Mediation?
- How does the process end? Who drafts the agreement?
- Can you mediate online?
- Do you belong to any professional organizations?
- Can you provide references? (Some may not be able to because of the confidential nature of the mediation process.)
